OK, try putting the chain on it and get someone to put major pressure on the rear brake.

Sounds like it's time to buy one. You've gotta get one before you ride anyway.

Try to locate one of those oil filter tools. The ones for vehicles with a small oil filter. The tool should have a chain or a very tough band that can be tightened. Something like one of these. ![]() Or this. ![]() That along with an impact wrench is all I have to suggest. |

Are you trying to get your front sprocket off? There should only be a clip that needs to be removed. Then it should just slide off.

take something like a rubber coated hammer or like I used an old plastic candy cane decoration thing and wedge it under or above the swingarm through the rim to keep the thing from spinning then get a breaker bar and the socket, some pb blaster and bust it loose. then put new sprockt on with blue loctite and your done. Tighten same way as loosening.

I'm with CRF Jedi on this one. Try to use an air impact wrench. just hold the sprocket with your hand (WITH A TON OF PAPER TOWEL), and have it in gear so it wont spin freely. this is how i did it. so u basically have one side of the sprocket covered in the paper towel and ur holding the sprocket as tight as you can, and u kind of give it jolts. if it still spins through ur grip stop and dont try it. u dont want to be slicing up your hand. All of the ideas sound good to me. and Loki, a clip holding on the front sprocket? sounds kinda scarey to me!

I do believe that Suzuki 250F uses a snap ring for the counter shaft spocket.

Take a piece of the broken chain and run it around the sprocket. Then use a C-Clamp to clamp the chain down to the swingarm. That should hold it well enough to remove the bolt.

Boy, talk about some winner ideas! Candy cane decorations as a tool? Hold the sprocket with a paper towel?!? If your sprocket is in fact held on with a nut. Make sure there is not a washer-clip with one side bent up to secure the nut. You can use a strap wrench to hold the sprocket in place while you use an impact. Other than that, my recommendation would be to fill the cylinder with sand until the sprocket stops spinning when you use the impact wrench on it. You may want to defer to your big sister, to teach you how to use an impact wrench... Don't use the impact wrench to put the nut back on. You should probably replace the nut after you botch it up, and the locking clip. Also, get a manual. There's more to riding than just starting the bike up, or buying new stickers. ![]() Looks like a small bolt holding the sprocket on. If it's too tight, you may just be turning the wrench the wrong way. Put the wrench in your other hand and try again... Last edited by boogieonmyfinger; 02-23-2007 at 05:34 PM. Reason: added pic

I have never taken a sprocket off of a '97 CR250 but is that bolt Right or Left hand threads? Nobody has mentioned that.
