Honda CR250 - won't kick start & hard to push....?

Long story short, a friend owed me a little money, so he gave me a Honda CR250 that he got from someone that owed him money...

Anyway, 2 problems I see with it..

1. I can't kickstart it. The lever won't even budge.

2. If I put it in gear & then pull in the clutch, it is VERY hard to push. It should be easy to push if the clutch is releasing, right?


For the amount he owes me, I could part it out on eBay, but I'm curious about what's wrong with it & how much it would cost to get it to run again.

Get a factory manual, and start going through it. Sounds like you need to pull the top end, and crack the cases. Once you find out what the trouble is you can decide if you want to fix it, or part it out. From what you're describing though, it doesn't sound good.

kind of hard to say from your description. It is is top and bottom end the parts go for about 600 including plating. Use your pencil.

i have a cr250 that did that same thing the kick locked and it wouldnt move in neutral or the clutch in. what happened is the needle bearing in the crank let go and seized the piston in the cylinder. so total im lookin at like 650 to 800 bucks. ifs its worth that to ya, get it fixed.
