the factory suggests 32-1 from what I read in the 2000 manual. My son got his 2000 in 2001 and hasnt fouled a plug yet that I know of. We mix 20-1. I use yamalube and he uses Klotz. If the carburetor (jetting etc) is set up for the way you ride, you shouldn't be fouling plugs on any reasonable mix.

Lots of the oils have their own recommendations, but going with the factory suggestion is probably a good place to start. I try to keep what I do constant, ie get the same brand oil and fuel each time. That means picking an oil that is easy to get do you aren't out buying outboard oil at a gas station at 7 a.m. on a Sunday.

Everyone has different opinions on this matter, so you'll get a ton of different answers. I run 32:1. FWIW Honda recommends 32:1.

Play it safe, it may smoke a little more. But mix at 32:1, some will say 40 or even 50:1 but the cr's already run rich. I've been on my topend for 3 years now (hard woods riding) and I run nothing but Klotz super (red bottle) never had a problem. Ran the first plug for 2 years. Its still good use it as a back up!
