I just run it through a couple of heat cycles. getting it up to temperature where you can race on it, than letting it cool down totally and doing that about 5 or 6 times and than, i take it out on the track, and just slowly work my way through the gears for one session, than i just ride it like I normally would.

bad question for me since I run 20-1 all the time, but I don't use the same oil you do. I am prone to breaking them in on mx style riding where you are on and off the throttle and not too long on either.

just watch the overheating. if you ride it that way for 5-10 minutes at a time the so called heat cycling is pretty much done for you.

i have taken new pistons out of the box, installed them and had a breakin that amounted to riding to a starting line. I have done the long breakins that the book suggested. haven't seen much if any difference in longevity.

FYI mine go together with a dry cylinder. it aids in a quick ring seat. (oil the bearings of course, all of them.)

I normally just break mine in like Ossa says, take it on the track and ride it like normal. After it's been ran I let it cool and double check the fasteners, but that is about it. I've never changed my premix ratio and I also do the "dry" method. Clean cylinder, clean piston and rings with oil only on the bearings.
