Default Don't understand 87 CR 125 airfilter & cage set up

I just got this bike not too long ago and this set up seems odd to me, it looks like those tabs get right in the way of the sealing rim of filter, I think the edge of filter rim runs just on the outside of them but as you can see in 3rd pic, they get inbetween the filter rim and mating surface on airbox when installing, causing a gap.

They just have to be bent and should go 90 degrees instead of 45 like that, ARE THEY and if so should I heat up and bend back or just get another cage ?

No wonder the airbox boot had dirt in it, not my doing, former owner installed it like that.

Maybe it's set up correctly in the third pic and the tabs are supposed to hook on to the inside of the metal surface

Probably so but they can't at 45 degrees, I really think they are bent wrong, I'm sure someone (maybe Lee from on the pipe?) will chime in and know for sure. I did talk to Lee about it but once he sees these pic's, he can tell me for sure if they are wrong, just GOT to be.

Sort of odd that they have them tangs, any other MXer I ever owned never had them but bent at 90 degrees, it is a pretty good set up then I imagine ?

I know they go thru that inner liner like in 2nd pic, in 3rd for clarity sake, I just have them out of the slots of inner liner.

Hmmm, that is pretty weird the way it's set up. I was just making a guess though, I don't know anything about air filters
