hi i'm looking to put a 07 cr250 motor in to the 1993 cr250 frame i know that motors up to 2001 are mounted the same so should fit but i'm unsure about the 07 motor. if it fits the frame or if a rework the frame to fit the motor will there be room to mount the power vaule servo or will the tank get in the way? will the carb line up with the air box? and will the 07 pipe fit as it looks bigger than the 93 one and may hit the bottom of the rad. and is there any thing else i've over looked. thanks

It won't fit the frame - the motor mounts are different. I imagine a bunch of other stuff will also not work. The '93 motor was just fine, I think you are probably looking at a huge amount of work for little or no gain. If you've got a chassis with no motor look for an '01 it will be much easier to fit and many prefer the way it runs anyway. It can certainly be done with a bunch of work, but there doesn't seem much to be gained - the motor gets an old flexy chassis and the old chassis gets a more complicated motor with only a little more performance (and really no more than you'd get with some careful porting etc). anyhow, good luck!

There are about a gazillion problems with this swap. Case width between the swingarm is different. Not one motor mount is compatible. CS sprocket allignment, airboot allignment, etc. Worst of all, you are trading a crap motor ('07) for a stellar motor ('93). This is a very difficult job that would require a lot of fabrication and some custom one-off parts = $$$$. You already have the best steel frame Honda ever made, I recommend you rebuild your '93 engine and reinstall it. Even if it is blown to bits, it will cost a lot less than the swap you are contemplating. Once done, you can go out and spank all the aluminum framed Hondas with the "goon" engine ('02-up). dogger

Thanks for the advise guy i didn't think it would be easy, but this make me want to do it even more. making new parts and changing the mounts on the frame is not a problem for me, i know the 07 engine is not liked but i've had great results with the 07 cr250 so i now want to build a spare bike with the best steel frame {1993} and an engine i've won on many times. thanks
