Thanks for the input. I have been told today by three differnt Honda shops that it will not work because of porting or exhaust valve changes...

Of course, that way they can sell you a new cylinder.

Eric is the man in case you didn't know. He recommends some cylinder over others (namely the '95, '96 and '99 due to thier smaller exhaust and intake ports) but it will work. The only thing to watch for is running the correct piston in relation the the head. Since you're dealing with two bikes that both ran flat topped pistons you can use either head and be okay.

Yes, everything will work okay. The only differences will be in port timing and possibly squish band/compression if you run the different head. This amounts to a slightly different powerband.

If you have some time to do some reading [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. It's not the best format, you'll have to scroll down to get to the CR250 section. Hopefully this will give you the peace of mind you're looking for.

No problem, that'll give some of the other guys like ossagp, FFRacing11x, YP etc. a chance to give you some feedback.

Yup Faded is right

I know for sure that the CR250Rs had the same motor from 92-01..differences is what faded said..mostly in port timing.

The cylinders go on as unit from 92 to 2002. The 97 and the 2000 have different part numbers corresponding to their power valve components. I have loaded 2000 cylinder and an empty 1997, if I had some ambition and time I would see if they would swap components easily for you. But based on part numbers I would say that the power valve parts are probably not a direct swap.

I see that some of the part numbers for the exhaust valves are different from 97-98 to 00-01 cylinders, but are they the same part with newer part numbers.
