CR Frame Protectors

What are people using to put under the plastic on to protect the CR frames. This is where the plastic for the radiator shroud crosses the aluminum bike frame. I have looked around and haven't found much. The only idea I have now is using some thin plastic and double stick tape to hold it in place.

Any Ideas.

Umm.. what generation aluminum frame do you have. I have a third gen and all I do is Scotchbrite and silver polish after every ride.

why so it is. well ive never heard of puting someting between the shroud and the frame. Does the old plastic tend to rub on the frame? well what part. You could cut awat at any protrudence.

I thought about cutting it back. But I would have to cut a lot of plastic to get it to the point where it wouldn't touch the frame. My other concern is I think my pants would then want to catch on the edge of the plastic.

I have talked with others and after they go and look sure enough they have the same frame wear that I have. It is one of those things that gets overlooked. Just because it is under the plastic.

The other thing that I thought about puting under it is the kevlar sheet material that people use for frame protectors or even the ones the crotch rocket guys use to protect their tanks. But that stuff is pretty spendy.

I will try and get a pic of this and post it.

I know what you are talking about. I get some wear on the top of the subframe from the underside of the seat rubbing... a few grooves, some pitting etc...

Try seeing if you can get some of the clear vynyl adhesive stuff... like the crap graphics are made out of. A piece of that stuck to your frame could very well end your problem.
