Default Cool Head for CR500

Swapped up to the high comp 63cc dome with C12 and Amsoil Dominator. I had been runing the 66cc head with 93 pump and Amsoil Dominator. I just thought I'd share some pics over here.

High Comp 63cc dome and stock to the right

Stock, cool head with dome in, 63cc dome sitting out of head

Stock, 66cc dome I had in, and the 63cc dome

Top of the Wiseco pro-lite after running cool head 66cc dome on 93 pump and Amsoil Dominator at 32:1.

It got dark by the time I got done, so all I did was kick her over (3rd kick she fired up) and let her idle. Then I did 3 rounds of putting around the yard and parked her. I can feel the extra bottom end the 63cc head is making, and didn't get to blip her much, but she feels strong. I don't even think I'm going to need to rejet the thing.

The stock dome has more soot because I was running the Honda 2-stroke oil when I first got her, and no telling what the previous owner ran. The Cool Head has been run a tad rich on the jetting, but still is clean and the piston looks real good.

The gaskets are O-ring on the Cool Head. It has an inner and an outer, and two more at the top/inside. They are lifetime/reusable gaskets, so you no longer have to run the stock gasket.

What?? You needed more power???

Looks really cool with that new head. Did you have to go to a different temp plug?

Wow, now for some porting?I could understand if it was a smaller bike but wow......I have respect for people who ride those regularly when they are stock, and you want more power. Do you own any stock cars or anything that has like crazy horsepower?

There is never enough power...

I play with this, but power = $$$ on newer cars, so she isn't making any big HP/TQ. Everything is new from the intake to oil pan, minus the plenum and stuff I reused, plus a brand new bell housing and clutch kit. Car was originally a 97 NPI 4.6L SOHC with iron block and 4r70w auto. It now has an 04 aluminum block PI 4.6L SOHC with Tremec 3550 5-speed, NX Nitrous, etc. Only has 36,660 miles on the clock and bought it new Oct 96 (is a 97 model).

The porting on the CR is actually quite mild... Open those exhausts up and then let her rip!!! Tdub

Wow, been forever since I got on here. I sold the CR 500 to a local who is going to attempt to convert it to a super moto AF and possibly get it street legal if he can eek it by the dmv.

The cool head is by Pro Design. I got mine on ebay, but not sure if this is the same seller: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

One dome is for 93 pump and the other is for race gas, I used VP C12 (Think they rec'd 108-109 mon for the race head) and a step colder NGK plug. I can't recall where I had jetting on the PJ or when I got a PWK 41mm pro by sudco.

If you will be swapping domes often, order extra orings. Once they heat up, it's next to impossible to get the dome on the jug before the o-ring comes out of the grove, and that will cause a coolant leak. If you notice a leak.

I never had a problem with it other than the o-ring when swapping domes.

Enjoy it.

I'll have a CR500AF once the economy picks back up. I can't live much longer without a bike, especially a 500 2-stroke.
