Default choking up on light throttle

Just rebuilt my 2001 cr125 with a fresh top end. Everything is good and it starts up first kick… but when riding… it really dosnt like to be cruised on light throttle… it kind of bucks and wants to go and then dosnt. When you crack the throttle open though it accelerates fast and smooth…it just dosnt like light throttle riding..

My question is can i adjust this with the air screw? and does it sound like its running lean or rich?

Lean or rich can be determined by checking the plug.
However remember that these bikes are designed to be ridden hard. They don't like to be babied.... So to speak.

Surging at quarter throttle sounds like a lean pilot jet. Start with getting the float height set correctly, then you can try adjusting the pilot air screw. Make sure the motor is warm and then set the idle fairly low. Now, start turning the pilot air screw in or out in half turn increments. Stop after each turn and listen for the idle to change. If you get no change from the range of half turn out to three turns out, you need a different pilot jet.
