Icon1 Cases

Ok so I have my cr125 engine apart it's a 87 and on the clutch cover it's starting to rot and so is the water pump cover , I would like to get new cases all around or at least whatever new ones I can get. What years of what will everything be compatible? And will any newer year crankshaft fit in my 87 cases? Idk couldn't find any threads like this needed the help.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the '87-'89 cases are basically the same as long as you use them in sets. The '87, '88 used different rod ends and piston pin sizes, as I recall and the transfer ports were located differently in some of those years so extream care must be used to match piston ring end gap location that match the cylinder. I seem to recall that the rods would interchange on the cranks so the match up of cylinder to piston can be done. I also know there was a factory recall in '88 or '89 as I recall and some of the bad cylinders are around as they did not have to be returned to the dealer or the factory, so be careful when you start getting parts.
Water pump covers will be the hardest thing to locate.

87 will not fit 89, I actually swap the motor for a 89 in my 87 CR125. 87 and 88 has a longer intake and the cases of 89 are a bit larger about 1/2 inches. This is why it's the same seal and hgasker but not the exact same motor.

I actually got a super clean polished bottom end for a 87 with new bearing seals and gaskek and the clutch case if you're interested.

I also have a bad cylinder if your'e interested hehe, just kidding.

Let me know if you want it ot if you have more specific question, I know these motors pretty well and I got a tons of parts.

Cheers!
