Is this a new problem that recently developed or has it been like that for a while?

Could be several different things. Please give more info on what type of situations it is doing this, ie, hard acceleration, just cruising, etc.

the bike just started doing that when i went riding with my friend brandon. we were riding for an hour and a half until the prob started. i thought it was the spark plug at first. i always bring extra plugs when i ride just in case. so i changed the plug. started it up and it did the same thing. so then i thought it was that the bike overheated or somthing like that. so we stoped riding and went home. a couple weeks later i started it up and it was actually runnig real good. it revved in full rpms. but then i tried to ride it and it bogged and died after half throttle. i was going about 25 mph and i pulled in the clutch and revved it. it revved perfectly. i never herd of it before. can u help?

It is a pretty broad question. Frustrating for you I know. There are some obvious things, like fuel delivery, and a clean air filter. The main jet could have fallen out,,lots of things.

If I were you I would check/clean the jets. My yz was doing the same thing, turned out to be a plugged jet. It won't cost you anything so I would start there. Hmmm, just thinking, if it isn't the jets check the key on the crankshaft.

If it is a fuel delivery problem it may rev just fine with NO LOAD. In fact it usually does. Like I said, it is a pretty broad question. Best way is to start eleminating the simple things. None of the ones I mentioned should take you 30 minutes to check out alltogether. Go from there.

I have never had a seal do exactly as you say. Including one that I reassembled with a seal MISSING. Usually when your mag side seal goes out, it leans your jetting out, and for a little bit it winds really good. I am not saying that in some cases it may not do just like you are describing. Just in the 40 years or more than I have been at this, I haven't seen one do as you describe with a bad seal. It may be a combination of things, but as I suggested, try those simple things and see where it goes.
