Default 98 CR250 Water Pump Seal

I am having some problems with my bike. I just recently bought the bike and noticed it was spitting some coolant out that hole in the side cover. I knew at that point that it was time to replace the seals. when I took it apart I replaced the both the oil seal and the water seal and I replaced the gear shaft as well. GUESS WHAT? It still spits some coolant out of there. I dont' know what to do at this point. Any Ideas???? Please Let me know as soon as you can..

Thanks

You are going to have to go back inside the pump and see if your shaft is eroded and your housing is in good shape. If it is ok, make sure that there isn’t any junk between the mating surfaces of the mechanical seal. Put a dab of grease on the shaft and the seal then reassemble.

Default i had the same problem man.

i bought the bike, knowing that the seal needed to be changed. (water pump seal that is). i tore it down, replaced the seal, and put it back together. not long after ( not long as in, within minutes) it was leaking coolant again from the same place, so i went down to my local bike parts house, and bought a new shaft and impeller, tore down and rebuilt again. no problems since.

good luck man.

Default Thanks for your help

I appreciate your response. I have since then replaced everything the impeller and gaskets and it seems to be ok. Thanks again.
