Default 93 CR250 Rear Shock Upgrade to 96 Model

When upgrading the rear shock on a 93 CR250 to a shock from a 96 CR250, is it required to use 96 linkage also? I'm trying to do the shock upgrade, but the nut for the lower shock mount hits adjacent linkage.

Thanks,
TC90

I wouldn't call it an "upgrade", but yes, the linkage will have to be changed
as well. It's a shame you couldn't find a way to rebuild your 93 shock because
the 93 linkage ratio combined with the frame geometry was the best of all the
steelies, IMO.

Dogger-
Thanks for the advisement on staying with the 93 shock. I thought that going with the 96 setup would be a plus because of the addition of the High Speed Compression adjustment that became available on the 95-96 steel framed CRs. If the "96 Upgrade" does not work out, guess I'll go back to the 93 shock. Though, I'll need to replace the 93 shock body because it is worn and at its service limit.

Thanks,
TC90

So, I've discovered that 96 CR250 Linkage does not fit into my 93 swingarm. The options seem to be get a 96 swingarm or maybe use the dogbone from the 96 and the shock arm from the 93. From what I had seen in the Forums , it sounded like swap was straight forward, maybe I mislead my self a bit. Thanks for your help in advance.

i was looking at my 93 a couple of years ago and stuck the swingarm from a 2000 on the frame. wouldnt take much to make that work, since i have all the linkage and a shock. then i found an NOS 93 swingarm, and didnt make the switch. you have me interested again now though.
