Default 91 cr250 front wheel axle issues

Hi, I have a problem with the front wheel/axle off a 91 cr250
Bought the forks and wheel for a project and had to replace the wheel bearings and spacers. Used the Honda part numbers to buy the bearings and left and right spacer. The centre spacer I had to get off ebay.

Anyway, everything fits as it should except the right hand spacer, that get caught up on the raise section on the right side of the axle. thought I may have bought the wrong part so got an aftermarket spacer kit for the 91 cr250 and that right hand spacer gets caught up on the raise section as well.

Am I trying to fit it wrong? should I be heating the spacer or something? I assumed it just slipped on. have I even got a 91 front axle? (it looks like everyone one I can find on the net but that doesn't prove anything)

Are you sure the spacer is facing the right direction?

Hi, yes, tried both spacers in both directions.
The daft thing is, the raised bit is only .5mm wider that the rest of the axle.

I would put up a picture of it but for some reason I can't.
