Default 2005 CR250 Water pump releasing water

hi all,
i have an 05 cr250 and i just got it rebuilt(unfortunately seized it). underneath my waterpump there is a small hole, which i now get water coming out of when i run the bike, i dont know if this is supposed to be happening. also, i have a lot of smoke leaking out of the join between my engine and pipe, i did buy a seal and have put that in but it is hard to push between the pipe and engine, i am not sure wether to put it in the pipe or on the engine first, or if i am supposed to have more seals there.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, ben

Sounds to me like you need a water pump seal and maybe bearings. It's a good idea to replace both.

About the pipe - this area needs to be sealed well. Take the pipe off and check the condition of the parts. Lightly lubricate the seal rings when re-assembling. You might need to adjust the pipe fitment to get a good seal. If this area leaks you can suck air and trash your new engine, so get this sealed up properly.

You can use RTV high temp silicone to seal the exhaust leak. Make sure to ventilate the area you are working in though, Its stinky.
Let it dry and cure for however long the product states. This works really well, easy to clean off and reapply and its pretty cheap as well. You can find it at Wal-mart or your local hardware store.

As for the water pump leak, its probably the seal, gasket(s), or impeller bearing like previously posted. Its part of a top end rebuild, so its probably worn out.
