Default 1996 Cr250R kickstart

After being absent for a while, I'm back!
My kickstart has gotten pretty loose once again. I replaced the kickstart joint a few years ago, but it is now worn out again.
I'm wondering if a kickstart pedal from a 2000 CR250R will work with my 96?? I can buy kickstart pedal assemblies for 2000-2005 brand new, where as the 96 part is NLA..
I know it will physically bolt on, but does anyone know if there will be interference?

Please help if you have any idea!

By my knowledge it is 92-96 that will fit correctly.
You will find a good used one if you search hard enough.

My biggest issue is that I have found a "good used one" on ebay before, but unfortunately "good condition" is highly subjective.
I'm hoping that something still in production will fit without any clearance issues so I can simply buy one brand new

In the meantime your waiting to come across another
kickstarter, just build up the loose clearances with JB weld..

The newer kickstarter will slip right on, as the splines are the same. However, you will likely run into interference issues with that kickstarter and the frame.

Thank you for the comment, I had already verified that. I'm really looking to see if anyone here has tried this fitment yet.

for the moment, I ended up stacking o-rings on the bottom and increasing the preload on the ball bearing inside. this has helped a lot, but there still is a bit of slop.
I hope someone on here can chime in that has tried the newer kickstart lever for aluminum frame on the older steel frame.

maybe instead of stacking orings, add some thin washers (0,5-1,0mm) to reduce the gap.

.
Can you put up a pic of the kickstarter in question please..
there may be a way around this if it involves the ballbearing area
that i did to my kickstarter..

I actually spoke with Dogger about the kickstart and he's confirmed what I thought, which is that they are almost the same. I'll report back once I've tried on the newer kickstart. the issue with mine is that the interior is so worn down that there's just a ton of slop. in all directions

..in a pinch while waiting on a new one/replacement,
could always do some careful measuring, then modify/grind down
male end part of kickstart, then seek out a steel type 1-1.5 inch long
sleeve type bushing and Jb-weld it onto end and insert it back together..

This ad claims the newer 97-99 fits up.
Kick Start Lever Pedal 92 99 CR250 R Kickstarter Starter Shaft Arm Knuckle J24 | eBay
This shouldn't be that difficult of a problem. All this talk of jb weld etc, etc. Getting a replacement for this is a no brainer. Buy it now and you'll have it in the mail in a week.
