Is a 1986 CR 125 Swingarm compatible with a 1988 CR 125 Swingarm ?

Hi, Im wondering if a swingarm from a 1988 CR 125 would fit on a 1986 CR 125 Frame, they dont sell drum brakes for my bike anymroe in my area so i want to swap the swingarm on the 88 to my 86 frame any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i have an older frame (84) and it looks like the swingarm from my 88 would go right on. the linkages are much different though, so make sure you get that too. otherwise i think your project is really doable and that you will like it. if that fails i think i still have the wheel from the 84 somewhere. i think you would like the upgrade though. try to get the shock too. fyi i have all that in tattered condition and a wheel for the 88 mentioned.

pipe, are the two frames different in width where the swingarm mounts? the 84 and the 88 i have seem to be the same,,the 84 being a cr125 and the 88 being a cr250.

Paul. measure the width of the frame where the swingarm mounts and let me know what it is. that would be the biggest limiting factor in fitting the two. such things as swingarm length are a little easier to deal with. apparently i have some really mad skills because in the past i have done quite a few swingarm swaps, dirt and street, even one brand to another. from what i am seeing between my two subjects which are further apart in age than your proposed donor and recipient it as i said, looks doable and fairly simple too.
