Default 02 CR80 Jetting

My kids 80 spluges oil from the silencer that drips down onto the swingarm. Its mainly when my daughter rides it. She isn't riding it like she stole it. She is getting better though.
I read in a post that you can move the clip up to lean it. Should I try this before re-jetting?
What is the stock jetting size for the 02 cr80? How do the mark the jets? Do they have numbers on them?

What brand oil are you using? Spooge is usually from excess/low grade oil, but the CR80s are jetted fat stock.

I am using Maxima K2 at 50-1. I was told that i should only go as high as 36-1 and change the jetting to keep it from spuging oil.

Steve,

The jets are marked with numbers. The lower the number the leaner the jet. Needles are sometimes an exception. By moving the clip on the needle you are, in a sense, "rejetting". By using less oil per volume at your 50:1 ratio (vs. stock @ 36:1) you have richened the jetting across the board. If you plan on using the 50:1 ratio you will need to jet accordingly by leaning things out.

The stock jetting is a tad rich, but I have found it works well at sea level.

Leaning it out one notch on the clip wouldnt hurt.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the clip up a notch. While I am in there I will see what jet size I have. I was also told to have the air screw out 1 1/2 turns. Is that a standard setting or is it specific to what jet you have and clip placement?

It's usually the standard starting point. You'll most likely have to adjust it from there for your gas/elevation/weather/riding style. Also, there is more than just the main jet. I'd also look at the pilot jet # and the needle # while I was in there.
