Default 02 carb problem

Im having problems with my carb flooding and overflowing out the tube when the gas is on. Ive changed the float valve and adjusted the float tang about 10 times within spec and it still leaks. Not as bad as before though. Before I would turn the gas on and it would leak really badly, now it takes about a minute or 2 after the gas is on and leaks some but doesnt pour out like before.

Is the float valve seat my problem? Do these normally need replacing?

What can my problem be?

I suppose its possible the float valve seat could have a small flaw or something like a piece of trash stuck/embedded, causing the needle valve not to seal off properly. Couldn't hurt to replace it and see how it goes.

The other thing might be that the float has lost some of its bouyancy(sp?) and isn't putting enough pressure on the needle when it floats to make the seal. Like it has become saturated with gasoline(if it is made out of a foam type of material) or sprung a leak and has partially filled with gasoline if it is the hollow type.

My problem ended up being the brittle O-ring around the float valve housing...

I also swapped in a 400 main jet (from 380) and went to the 3rd position on the needle and runs great.

Yeah, many times. And generally speaking, the Keihins are better carbs. In the case of a 2002 CR250, the Keihin from a 2000 CR250 is worlds better than the POS Mikuni that Honda put on at the factory.

Yeah, that's pretty much common knowledge that Honda is the only Japanese manufacturer too cheap to put Keihin Power Jet's on their 250's. I've heard of plenty of Honda guys switching to the Keihin themselves. I like mine alot! Responds quite well to jet changes.
