From what I can tell from the parts books it looks like they will not interchange. The crank, and main cases are different from what I can tell as well as the piston, head & cylinder of course.

But, it does look like maybe the entire engine may be interchangable as the mounts look like they would work.

But you know what....Only 5cc of engine is not going to make much difference anyway.

virtually no change in cc's. everyone just started calling what has been 83cc's forever an 85. something like .2mm change in bore.

the suzuki 85 is a power valve engine. it will feel different.

i have a 97 80 and a 2003 85. the topends would change as a unit, but i cant vouch for the 07 doing the same. the 03 piston takes the same pin, but a different wrist pin bearing. yamaha likes doing that from year to year as well as change the size of the crank seals.

ok so i took the jug off and glad i did cause there was a small crack on the piston skirt. and yes i did look in to the 85s and there is not much difference in bore size so i'll just stick with this one the jug looks good still has the cross hatch or what not pattern in it so i'm good there just gonna clean it up and throw a new piston in. the bore mesures 1.850 inches and the piston at 1.846 so i believe i'm good there too
