Hey, As you know i might be getting a 97 yz 125. I told my dad and he has to think about it. He is worried that there is to much power and the gearing is so much diffrent then the bikes i ride now...Two very very old bike. there sorta like on road off road bikes. He think that the power will be to much for me and so on. Ive ridden yzs before but not like all out, hes never seen me ride one either so idk. I hope he still lets me get one. My question is would this be a good beginner bike for me who is starting to get into motocross?

I'm sure thousands of people have started on 125's. They do have a "powerband" and a hell of alot more power than an old trailbike. But as long as you are careful, and take your time to get very used to the bike before riding difficult terrain, you should be just fine.

Allrite, thatss good. See ill be riding in my yard and stuff untill i do get used to it then ill be doing trails and lil track. My dad is just afraid for me cuz he knows that there is a lot more power and it is geared diffrent then the bikes i have now.

A YZ125 was my first MX bike after riding DT175. I loved the extra travel on the suspension and more power. You will love it, just don't get carried away. The suspension will probably make you feel a bit over confident if you have not got used to it. But just go easy to get used to the power delivery and you will do just fine! Best of luck for getting it!!

Hey what would you guys do....my dad is afraid that when i get my license i wont ride it a lot. He said that i can wait and in the spring early summer find one and get it but right now he said u can either get the bike or have my jeep wrangler 4x4 with a 3" lift kit on it.? What you would you do get the bike or jeep then later on save up for an almost new bike?

I have a yz125 with a big bore kit and the rest of the things listed below...I started off on a brand new 2003 xr50...so yeah u can definatly get a 125 just dont pin the throttle all the way right away and watch out to hit the brakes to hard cuz they will slide out really easy cuz there so good....

I started out on a yz85 and that was a great learners bike for me and it didn't have to much power but i think if you are careful enough you can learn really fast on a 125.
