A 125 would be good to start from-but a 250 would be better down the road. If you are like me you are gonna want more power once you get addicted to it. If you're not completly familiar with it youd better get a thumper(4-stroke). The power is a lot easier to manage. Hope that helps

wether or not you descide 2 stroke or thumper...and you have riden quads a bit (different beast all together)...a 125 would do you for some time...but as many youl be wantning more power as most do...so you could ride a 125 till you get then hang of things and in a year or 2 get a 250 if you so choose

or you go right for the 250 and learn to tame the power right away...then slowly turn on the power tap of the 250 as you become comfortable on it..
many people start right off with a 250...dosnt mean its right or wrong...but be warned a 250 will snap you like a rubber band if your not prepared for what a 250 can do

I went right to the yz250 and haven't had any problems. I have crashed plenty of times but never looped it.
I think a 250 is easier to ride as long as you are big enough.

I started riding bikes on a 250 2-stroke. But I have a few years experience on quads. I was planning on getting a 125 but I got a good deal on my bike. I'm about 5'9"-5'10" and 155ish. It doesn't sound like you've had that much experience so I'd say go with the 125 or 250 4-stroke. On the 250 smoker you have to take it real easy at first because things happen fast. Also, you learn to keep your body forward because the front will come up if you don't. You could find a 125 cheap now because many people are switching to thumpers.
