hey guys, this is my first post on ATM, although ive read a ton of posts. i know that this is an endless question and gets asked all of the time, but i am coming off of a ttr-125 and im plain bored with it. would any 2 stroke 125 be good for me? i posted in the yammie forum because im partial to yamaha's. which 2 stroke would be the best for me? compared to my riding buddies (raptor 80, eton 150 atv, kymco 150 atv, blaster) i am fast..... would 1 of these 2 smokers be good for the woods? i do a fair amount of jumping...thanks guys

These days you just pick em buy the color. They are all good, most of these slackers couldn't tell the difference between most brands if they rode them blindfolded. I've got a TTR125 for my daughter and a YZ125 for the wife. Both are good bikes in their realm. Manners wise the ttr would shine in woods riding but the YZ has better suspension. The YZ has gobs more power than the TTR but you would have to learn to work the clutch and throttle, it aint no "sissy" play bike. The useable power delivered by these bikes is completely different. The YZ is all about RPM and the TTR has low end torque. My normal ride is a CRF450 and the first night I had the YZ125 I had it on the track clearing 40/50 foot tabletops with ease, I'm 260 pounds and no beginner rider. I've seen kids clear those table tops on hopped up TTR's but mine is a bit shy on the power to do it with me. :yum

A YZ125 is a complete motocross race bike, and a TTR125 is a complete trail beginner bike. I've seen 125s whoop up on 450s, watch the vet classes, you'll probably see a guy on a 125 flying. If you feel that your TTR125 is completely underpowered(and you probably do) then your ready for a race bike. I went from a TTR125 to a CR125, you'll live, just REALLY respect it. Although, since you mainly trail ride you may want to consider a larger trail bike.

i have, that stuff is expensive. its also not just underpowered, its the height. i would be happy is i could raise the seat height, say to like 34 inches....but thats pretty costly too. i would rather have a powerful and better fitting bike...

Then go for the YZ and respect the throttle and the clutch for a while.

Go for the YZ, having the TTR you have the basics of riding down. The 125 is going to be a totally different animal, but treat it with respect and you will be fine.
