But I think what woody and oring were sayin was that the higher RPMs=more fluid(gas and oil)circulation, which cools the moter down more.

What I don't quite agree with is the idea of running at higher RPM's (on the pipe) at lower speeds equals cooler temps>Same air flow.
I see what you're saying Pragmatic. I agree with you. Of course, the higher RPM's are going to make the engine run hotter. That's more friction. I can't find the terminolgy to describe what I am saying. In other words, when my bike starts spitting out the coolant, I usually turn it off and let it cool down or go through the gears at low to to moderate RPM's. That gets the coolant churning and plenty of much needed air flow. That usually solves the problem for me.

Exactly! Thats the same thing I do with my 426.

I would not think the increased flow in oil/gas & coolant would contribute to lower engine temps without the air-flow.

I guess what I'm trying to say is> I think the fluid flows are adequate at idle (putting around) and would result in lower temps (less friction) and would be less damaging than keeping the bike on the pipe (higher RPM's) at the same speed.

Fouled plugs is another story

in the old days i had '85 rm125 that had the same issues as your bike, when I disasembled it the rings were cracked and one ring had a little chunk missing. Without hearing yours run I would say it sounds kinda how mine did, however the old '85 had no power valve.

Don't forget that the coolant flowing in the barrel is sent around by a water pump!!
If your motor is not spinning the coolant won't be travelling at a fast enough rate!
It probably takes a combination of factures to cook a motor including where your riding ie Deep sand dunes.
I don't know if fluid flows at idle rate are too effective. If you let it idle for a long time you will boil your coolant!
Hell what would I know! only going on what this machinist told me and the damage done to my bike! The old bloke has been racing bikes road/trail for 30 years, good enough machinist to fix Helicopters, Is where everyone takes there stuffed up motors,
I think i'll stick with what he said!
Definately do what Blitz said!
Good luck!
