| Hey ATM Crew. Inspected reed petals today and found small crack in the clear plastic backing of one of the reeds. Here are the pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am guessing it wil be effecting the airflow as the clear backing that is cracked lifts up with the reed when it should stay down against block face. This would impede airflow and velocity? So my question is, do I need new reeds? Could I get away with this small crack. I am pretty sure that I am going to have to get some new ones but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask you guys. Thanks |

| that part you are calling a "backing" is the second reed in what boyesen termed a two stage reed for years. the lighter and smaller reed which is the dark one is more flexible and it opens earlier, followed by the second part which in your case is cracked. so far it doesnt look like it is leaking, but soon it will be missing that corner and cause your bike to run poorly. longwinded answer above means, yes you need new reeds. |

| I would agree. If nothing else, you wouldn't want your engine to ingest that piece if it does crack all the way and fall off. |

| Two words.... V Force. Okay, I guess V is technically a letter, but you get the idea. |

| Thanks for the input ossagp, Woody_CRF and Kenny400. I was expecting to have to purchase a new set of reeds and checked out eBay. I found a V-Force Reed Block for my bike but the seller doesn't want to ship anywhere but US and Canada. Since I am needing new reeds I think I am going to go the whole she-bang and get reed block/rad valves to go with it. Definetly through eBay as the new ones are too dear IMO. Thanks again guys! |

Now..if Woody CRF splurges for the port job on his bike, I'll be 2 for 2. |

Nah, I can't afford the RRP of Reed Cage setup. If I can't find any Boyesen/V-Force blocks on eBay then I might just have to buy the reeds by themselves. |

| Ok, things have changed. I am in the market for a reed block/rad valve for my bike now. eBay of course! My question is what will have the greater effect on performance? A Boyesen Rad Valve or Moto Tasinnari's offering in the V-Force 2? I have heard more about the V-Force but wondering what people thought if they had tried both on there YZ125's. Both with Carbon reeds. The V-Force has no bids at $50 with 3 days to go. And the Boyesen has just been listed with 6 days left and no bids at $0.99. Of course they will probably rise in price but how much should I pay? They are in USD so I have a rough idea of their value but just looking for advice. Some people are probably thinking why don't I just by the reeds by themselves? I could but I thought I may as well get the whole setup while the reeds need replacing. I was previously using dual-stage carbon fibre reeds but from what I have read I can get a stronger response from replacing the whole cage. Opinions plz! THanks |

Btw, does the V-force come with the same setup as Boyesen? I ask this because the particular V-Force I am watching does not have the section between reeds and intake boot. In other words I will just use my stock section with V-Force? Here are the pics. |

| Okay..I was poking fun at you and Satch, but I seem to remember him posting something about that you won't lose as much bottom end using the stock spacer along with the V-Force cage? |

| I dunno.. I DO KNOW that if I keep looking at those pics I'm going to want one for mine just for the bling factor. I'll have spent my $$$ and then you and WoodyCRF will be making fun of me. |

I got some extra hours (means $ I have wanted one for a while after talking with Zak, (psyklone) and how the V-Force had made a great improvement on his bike. But I haven't really seen any that are cheap enough and willing to ship worldwide on eBay. I think a V-Force reed block and Boyesen clutch case would do nicely, then I will be happy and be over eBay!
