Default Neutral is easy to find

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I find that when I'm riding I seem to hit neutral when going from first to second gear a lot. I've had other bikes before my 2007 YZ250 and haven't had this issue. I moved my gear shift lever a notch lower to see if that would help but I still seem to be hitting neutral a lot.

Does this indicate an issue with my transmission or an issue with my foot?

I hope you are all well.
Thanks
