Need VIN# on YZ125 with scratched off VIN stamp

I have a YZ 125 with the VIN number scratched off. It looks like when they had the frame powder coated it got scratched off. I have a bill of sale but they put what i think is the engine number 2vn00-123cm3-y-1. Is there another way to get the VIN #. Are there any other locations where the vin can be found.

The VIN is located on the right side of the steering stem head. The engine number may have some similarity tot he VIN but on modern day bikes that is unlikely. The number you have is not a VIN but maybe an engine number.

Sometimes when people powder coat frames they will fill in the VIN with bondo to get that cool smooth look. If the VIN was in fact removed then there are other issues. If you are able to sand the powder coating off where the VIN should be and find it has been completely ground off you have serious issues. You need to determine if the VIN is still there. If it is not, you need to contact local law enforcement because my guess the bike is stolen.

Good Advise Ernie, My RM had the vin filled in ,but the scratched or ground off thing is a whole nother matter! you never no now adays,
i cheh especially hard with anything from ebay......Jerry
