I'm not holding my breathe i've heard it's junk! and with how good the bike runs all ready I don't think enhancing the spark is gonna do anything. Should of gotten an ignition! I hope you didn't pay good money for it. I dont' mean to knock but I haven't seen any real professional engine tuners suggest it and other than mags & star struck buyers I haven't seen anything good on it. From the dyno's I saw it mimic'd stock and some bikes they ran worse. I just reminds me of a new aged roost boost! I'm just really skeptical of it.

I haven't really heard a bad report from someone who has tried one, only heard bad reports from people who haven't bought one? so I thought I would give it a try, that is what I do, and have been doing for 20 years , try things evaluating, and tell you what I think of it, that is what I like to do. I do allot of searching and reading before I buy an item. and only buy the things that just might make sense. In my opinion the icat wont show anything on a dyno, because you don't run a big load on the motor on a dyno, you are just really measuring peak hp. but under heavy load I think is were this device was intended for, burning excess fuel... So I will know tomorrow.

I will be interested in your report. I remember reading somewhere that the advantage doesn't show on the dyno but it is easily proven on the track. I think this is more advantageous for the two strokes but I am interested in your report just the same.

i agree with jedi i think it will help 2 strokes more and it will show more on the track than anything. Mostly i think it will help on the lower end to burn some excess fuel especially if your using maxima oil or something like that.

I dont know about the Icat (anyone want to buy a RoostBoost?) but when anyone says there is no great load on a Dyno, I can tell they are not familiar with them. Good luck on the test though.

[ I did test the icat today... heavy sand and through the whoops, and trees, : throttle seemed crisp, but I felt a power loss in the bottom end & middle, now before you all start saying I told you so.. This just might need some advancement of the ignition timing, as the spark plug wire is about 1 foot longer than stock, so my thought is the spark is being retarded by the length of the spark plug wire? but to me it is not a bolt on power adding product... but maybe with some more timing, and possibly some jetting changes, it might work better... anyway I disconnected the icat, and went on the same 15 mile loop as before, and the bike ran much better everywhere.
One thing I have to reintegrate, the SLP power pack works great!
Anyway I haven't given up just yet on the icat. I need some more time and tinkering.
See ya Coop

err I told ya so? I don't like hearing that it took away power, I can see where your coming from on the timing but I expect the timing will make the noticable change and not the ICAT once again. I have to look into seeing if they have those Vortex X10 ignitions with the 10 settings for the 2 strokes I had one on my '03 YZ250F and the improvement was noticable right away every where.

I use an aftermarket ignition and have found there is definite improvement over stock. You can choose at the handlebar where you want the power.

Sorry to hear the iCat didn't yield the results you were hoping for.

You do realize the spark energy travels at the speed of light, don't you?

The ICAT sounds like snake oil to me.

Yea, but the length of the high tension is still a little further for the spark to travel? and by advancing the timing, you could possible correct the retard, or the delay?
Haven't had a chance to check my theory yet.
It is just a thought, it may make no difference at all?
It is also a possibility that my jetting is spot on, and there is not raw fuel left to burn to make a noticeable difference?

Depending on what the Icat really is, the length of the wire it was designed for could make a large difference. Im not sure what the whole point of Icat is but it sounds like its for increasing spark energy to burn more gases?

The way I believe they are doing this is just adding an inductor to make the spark energy last longer. If it is an inductor then the spark will be retarded until the inductor charges. Then while the magnetic field of the inductor breaks down you will see the spark ends up in a bright little ball.

I'll try to find more info on the product and what they are doing.

If there was some way of using an inductive pick-up timing light you would be able to see the difference of retard before and after the device.
