Default How to count chainl ength

I am getting a new chain did it has 120 links i need to cut it down to 114 lengths . the way i gather how to do it start master link 0 inner link is 1 next 2 plate next 4 plate next 6plate then remove end pin .is this right give feed back . thanks do it in the dirt.

I never worry too much about the number of links, I usually order a 120 link chain, get the rear wheel close to where I want it to be, and cut the chain to fit.
