![]() 2008 yz250 raced 2 months ago in 30 degree weather, ran fine. practice ridden for 1.5 hrs. the bike did not want to idle or be in the lower rpms at all. even if i slowed to make a turn it began to spool down. i adjusted the idle higher and played with the air screw to no avail. i did a high speed throttle chop to run some of the gas out of the carb before i shut her down, the plug looked like it should, so it has the correct main jet. i was prepping it for the next race: washed, fresh oil, air filter, cleaned suspension, changed tires etc. i started it up to see if the problem went away(wishful thinking). when i turned the gas on it started coming out of the overflow, i shut it off and tapped on the float bowl with a rubber mallet, turned the gas back on and none came out. it started cold on the second kick. it will not idle at all, i have to atleast give it 1/4 throttle to keep running, if i hold the throttle wide open for 5 seconds it will finally rev out. there is a constant drip of oil coming out of the breather tube by the powervalve. oil is also coming out of the exhaust like i have never seen. activating the choke only makes it worse so if all those other symptoms werent enough we know its running rich. the plug is wet and black and oil fouled. br8eg(stock) jets=stock needle=1st clip(2nd stock) 10hrs on top end, 30 on bottom. 15hrs on vforce3 reeds. fresh muffler packing. brand new twin air filter. always fresh gas used(never older than i week) 40:1 motul synthetic, 91 octane from bp. why is it running so rich? |

![]() That is strange although I know that in my experience two strokes tend to run richer as temps go up. What was working at 30 degrees would certainly not work now that we are getting close to summer temps. It still sounds like the main jet is too rich with the amount of oil you are talking about that has been coming out.
