Default got a few stripped threads

Well, about 3 months ago I accidentally stripped the threads in the frame to one of the bolts that hold the radiator on. I JB welded it and it has been good ever since. I just havn't tried to take the radiator off. Today I was looking over the bike because I'm going riding tomorrow and noticed that one of the holes that holds the right fork guard on is stripped. I guess the guy I bought the bike from stripped that. How is an easy way to fix these? I dont realy need to but it would be nice just to have the bike in perfect condition. I'm thinking of re-tapping it but I want to keep the bolt head size the same so I can still use the 8mm socket.

Or you could tap it out a size larger and find another bolt with the new thread size AND an 8mm head.

How about a plastic tie down and some duct tape? Nah, all the above ideas sound great.

How about a thread chaser???

Sears sells them. Not as violent as a tap. It will sometimes help with threads like this. It looks like this, but costs much less because your buying only one size. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Helicoils are great. Autozone sells a metric "set" for about 25.00. It comes with the tool to insert them with and inserts. These things rock. I have several on my old 73 Honda. They have lasted for years.

I think my radiator is held on with plastic zip ties.

I would probably drill it a size bigger and tap it, although anything metric can be a pain to find the right size. Can you drill it all the way through, use a longer bolt and put a nut on the other side? Use a nylon lock nut if you can find one.
