Default Gas after porting

So my 125 needed more top end and I took it in for porting. How high of octane fuel should I run after this? I am having head mods done to raise the compression as well.

I would say 100+ octane. I would buy 110 octane and mix it 50/50 with 92 octane from the pump to see if you can get it to quite pinging. If it won't quite pinging just start mixing more and more 110 to the pump gas.

Psycho, this may be a dumb question but where can you buy 110 octane? I can get 100 at the local airport.

Your best bet for finding out what fuel your bike will need after the mod's just might come from the person/company doing the work. I mean it is worth a try, or you can of course ask us for some guesses,,I mean I am sure we all have a really good idea just how much the compression will actually be raised or not raised and we will of course know all about any modification to the squish area.

Or were you just slyly announcing you are hopping up your engine? (Name dropping etc on here is the norm, you know?)

Well of course I asked them and of course they are trying to sell me their expensive race gas. I know I am going to have to get higher octane gas. I guess I am just wondering what the minimum octane is that I need after I do this. I am hoping to mix 110 and 94. That way I can use it in my stock 250.

Now for the name dropping... [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for all your suspension needs! [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] for all your suspension needs!

And oh by the way they are not doing the porting someone else is but they do all of my suspension and do an incredible job. Tell them I sent you and they'll give you a discount.

Don't worry that's next. I just wanted to see how this company would do first before I had them do them both.

Normally a dealer can get or will have high octane fuels on hand. The dealership that I work at now carries high octane fuels, alcohol and methenol.

Well of course those blood suckers are trying to sell you that expensive stuff!! Humor me and them though, and start out with what they tell you to run. Then go from there. Honestly do you think anyone here knows what they did well enough to tell you???

You have two new bikes, now you just payed to have one built up. So you end up paying them 3 bucks more a gallon or so,,,try 5 gallons and go from there. Unless you can get pistons cheaper than race gas that is.
