| Float level on YZ125 I am having a heck of a time finding a way to measure my float level. It is a 2000 YZ125. The carb is apparently a PM model by Mikuni (source: ericgorr.com), but the only way the manual tells you to check it is very...um off in my book. They tell you to fill the carb up with all parts in line with a fuel line attached to the bottom of the carb. The fuel line would be hooked up so that the fuel would flow freely from the tank into the carb and in practice out that tube. The way you get it to not constantly flow out of the tube is pick the tube up to above the float level, the floats will shut opff and then you compare the fuel level in the tube to the side of the carb. WHAT HAPPENED TO MEASURING THE FLOAT? I realise that this may be a good and fast way to check the float level if the carb is still on the bike, and you wanted to see if it was in range quickly. But that method would be rediculous for honing in the measurment. You would have to take it all apart everytime just to bend the tang slightly, then put it all back together again, ad nauseum. Can someone give me a measurement for the PM style Mikuni carb? Apparently it is specially made for Yamaha's after 1998. I can't find any info on Mikuni's website at all actually. Thanks in advance! Scott EDIT: Is there anyone that can clear up my confusion on this carb/jet issue. I have a carb for an MX bike mass produced in 2000. There should be tons of them laying around with people with experience using them and ordering parts etc. NO BIKE SHOPS KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. I have gone to the only two in my area and have gotten the wrong jets twice from people assuring me they were correct. This website claims it is a TMX36 carb. With N224-103 jets. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] This website claims it is a PM with ??? for jets. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Look at the picture for the TMX36 jets, look at the largest diameter portion that would have the size labeled/imprinted on it. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] The pilot jet coming out of my carb looks almost identical to that, EXCEPT there is an imprinted ring around the top portion of that large diameter section (that is obviously not shown in those pictures). The service manual clearly states not to use the jets that don't have the ring around them, it shows that the pilot jet outlet Outside Diameter is smaller than what is supposed to be in that carb. So here's the problem, the site states Yamaha '95-later, but the picture/diagram doesnt match what is in my '00 Yamaha. Thanks for any help, time to sleep.
