Both pipes are made for long out door tracks. They put all the power in the upper rpms. Go for fmf.

To be honest, I think you will be hard pressed to find a better overall pipe than the stock unit.

What sorta power distribution were you after?
I assume you still have the stock silencer on, although I can't see it sticking out from the back. If you haven't got an aftermarket silencer then I would invest there before pipe

Well the Doma on my 05 yz250 produced great bottom mid power, with a very little top end loss.
The DEP got rated best pipe in 03 in the pipe shoot out.
So I was just wondering if anyone has tried the DEP on the 06 yz250?
As I may want to try one.
I like bottom mid power... don't really care for screaming top end.
The 06 yz250 has a very good motor as it is, but it is always fun to try to squeeze a little more out of it.

Why not give Eric Gorr a call and see what he recommends. Honestly, most of the FMF and Pro Circuit pipes aren't much more than a cheaper OEM replacement pipe. The Euro pipes tend to be more designed to move the powerband around to your liking. I bet Eric would know what works.

You could always play with your stock pipe by adding some additonal washers in the exhaust flange. That will give the same effect as lengthening the head pipe and should move the power down in the range.

BTW, do you still have the sweet 74 YZ250A?

the DEP pipes look very nice. I am comparing my stock exhaust to the dep and a fatty to the dep and lemme tell ya the DEP looks a heck of a lot fatter and bigger. I would assume this gives more power? They are very good looking quality and i wish i could get my hands on them besides fmf and PC.

it probably cracked because you never cleaned it and sprayed it with wd-40 to keep it from rusting? or do ya have plated?

I've got/Had DEP, Doma, and FMF SST on my 2000 YZ250. Just got a 2005 with procircuit pipe and shorty silencer.Only ridden it once so early days.

On the 2000 Model(compared too stock)

Doma-Revved out further. Seemed to lose some power right at bottom end.

DEP-Feels as good as stock just a bit crisper throughout. revved out further. Good Pipe and Silencer. The best I've tried.

FMF SST- Absolute junk. No improvements anywhere. Detonation killed piston. Looked great, nice and shiney so sold well on auction site.

On 2005 Model. Procirucit shorty sounds awful in my opinion, too loud and not pleasant sound. Want too try the stock combo and then maybe a 304 non shorty silencer with PC front pipe. Still go the DEP front pipe so if it fits will try that.
Also tried all different silencers and found no 'noticeable' difference in performance, just look and sound different. front pipe is what makes the big difference. Stock is real good, the rest are just for fun......

Default Re: DEP or Doma or HGS

I am really looking close at the HGS pipe out of the netherlands! [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

From what I have heard it is the pipe to have?
I have ran the Doma system on my 2003/04/05 yz250, and yes you can pull third gear starts, the bike has allot more low and mid power.
The word on the HGS is that you will have a increase in hp all the way through the power band? very expensive though 429.00 shipped here!

Heres a dyno of a DEP pipe posted on the DRN site alongside 2C another UK manufacturer. What is interesting is that the power improvement and dyno look very much like what the manufacturer claims. If you look in the DEP dyno section you can see they also show only gains at the top end.
Nice to see it backs up my riding impression of only really improving the over rev or top end power.
The DOMA(aka HGS/Slechten) on my 2000 model definetley required more clutch work than stock and was more top end biased. Maybe they have had a redesign for the new models to improve low end.
My order of preference on 2000 model:-
1. DEP
2.Stock
3.Doma
4.Piece of old scaffold tube.
5.No Exhaust whatsoever.
6.Ummm anything but below
7.FMF(And only then if I can think of nothing else).

Will test the 05 when the weather clears, also have procircuit factory pipe to compare, and shorty and "proper" length 304 silencer to see if there is really a difference. By the way, paid for them all myself so quite happy to tell it like it is.

Dynos Links.
