Default CR to YZ defector....

After 15 years of cr's I have finally seen the light and bought an 05 yz 250....

Can you 03-05 250 guy's tell me what to do to get the 05 working? I ride outdoor mx / indoor ax. Was thinking about a pipe and shorty with a v-3 and some gearing changes to 14/?. Are there jetting suggestions after the pipe/shorty and v-3?

Has anybody experimented with offsets 22/24 mm like the applied factory clamps.

How good are the stock kyb's for an old b guy. Is it just diff springs or is a revalve required?

thank you in advance for your help......honda defector

If you have pics of tricked out 05's let's see them....

Congratulations! I have had my 05 YZ since the end of December. I came off of a YZF so I have been slowly getting used to the bike. It is a blast to ride though.

Thus far I have blinged it up some but as far as performance this is what I have done:

1. PC R304 Silencer (long.....gives more top. If you do alot of AX get the shorty)

2. VFORCE3. Makes more power everywhere actually. I left the stock spacer in to keep the low/mid power with no loss on top. If you run it without the spacer you will get more top at the expense of some low end. Again if your riding alot of AX DEFINETLY leave the spacer in.

3. I have not changed the gearing however I ride outdoors. For AX you should experiment with a 14/51 or 14/52 set up. That will bring 3rd gear into play sooner.

4. I added a UNI filter...I would suggest a UNI or TwinAir

5. Boyesen water pump cover and impeller with Engine Ice coolant. I will probably be glad I did this come summer time! Just got a good deal on the parts and went for it.

6. RK MXZ520 racing chain (get rid of the stocker..it's junk).

7. Dunlop 756s went on before I put the bike together!

8. Other things that are personal/bling items are Applied Tclamps, ProTapers, SDG tall seat, Sendec hour meter, CF chain guide, Boyesen ignition cover, DrD front brake hose clamp, front rotor cover, CF pipe guard, billet tank vent.

As far as suspension, I just changed the springs for my weight and changed the fork oil. The front forks work great if you take the time to set them up properly. Mine were a bit harsh at first but I put stiffer springs and backed off the dampening and like them alot better.

What is that green stuff all over the ground around your bike? We don't have any of that. Our ground looks wavy and white!

Satch you bought yours about two months after I did and your clutch cover is worn at least ten more than mine!! I have yet to ride mine outdoors, only about 8 indoor rides on it. I dying to get outside!!!

Tell me about it. :

I can't wait to get out and ride, hopefully from the looks of things I MIGHT get to actually start my bike and ride it at least around the yard this weekend.
