Default Clarke Tank on a 2005 YZ250

Has anyone put a Clarke tank on their 05-06 YZ250? I just want to know what the easy way of making it fit the top of the frame is. Looks like it requires that you modify the rubber pad that goes over the frame backbone. I suppose another way would be to put washers between the tank and the tank brackets (making the them reach further down). As it sits now with no modifications, the tank brackets are about 3-4 mm short of the frame mount and don't line up.

Ahhhh the fabulous world of aftermarket parts!

Sorry Satch, can't offer any help.

Just wondering why you are interested in putting one on your 250. You doing trailrides etc? Or just wanting the extra fuel capapcity like ole #9?

yea I'm really interested also but I was going to use a natural color tank in case I wanted to go yellow or white or blue not so stuck by the color that way.

Brent,
I'm glad you posted that. I thought maybe I was getting senile as well as old and forgetful. Mark does have a way with words though.

ok satch take the metal braces off your ole tank.the brackets that have two bolts per each sidefor mounting to the frame of the bike. Now you will have a rubber peice and a alum peice for each side....they could still be in the mounting brackets................So place your hand so its looks like your saying O.K. with sign language.... pretend that your hand is the mounting bracket............your fingers are on the inside bracket......the side of your thumb and pointing finger your looking at is your outside of the bracket. take the rubber peice and the alum piece and place them on the out side of the mounting bracket. I had to do this to every clark tank I had for it to fit.

Macho...I understand now. However your talking about changing the width of the brackets right? On my bike the brackets don't reach down far enough to line up with the holes. I add a washer between the tank bracket and the tank and it lowered the brackets just enough to line up.

I think the issue comes from the backbone of the aluminum frame being fatter than the steel frame bikes.

yes width and depth was my issues. Making it wider made it fall down into place better.
