Hi All iam hoping for some of your opinions as to the best silencer for my YZ250 2004, i dont race just trailing some tight stuff as well as open fire trails. The bike is stock at the moment so this is the first mod i will be doing, but would like to add a power pipe and V-force3 reed system later on so any opinions on these would be appreciated. This is my first bike so i have no experence so all help is greatly received. Cheers.

The stock YZ pipe is fine. If you need a spark arestor silencer any of them are about the same. Just pick the one you can get the best price on and you like the looks of really. Also the Vforce is more of a top end piece and will actually kill your bottom end a little for the tight stuff. Also getting the jetting right after you put it on can be a pain in the A$$. Start with a flywheel weight and go from there. That will make the tight stuff better. If you want more power get it ported. It's about the same price as the pipe would be and you'll get more benefit out of it.

To answer your question, anything from top manufacturers ie FMF, Pro Circuit, Bills, DOMA etc. You say you are trailriding which includes contrasting paces and conditions. You can broaden the power a bit with a FMF Fatty. From what I have heard/read the Pro Circuit unit will increase top-end and overrev. The FMF Gnarly is made from 18-guage steel and is designed to give more instant response and more bottom-end tractor-like pull. Either way you can't choose a bad system really. Any silencers out there will help response and improve power delivery. However, the newer models (like your 04) are becoming really well set-up from the factory with all parts ie pipes as good as they can get them. I pretty much mean that the newer the bike, the less effect a mod will have on the bike. JMO though.

I have a zip-ty pipe and it came with a spark arrestor for only 85$. It has a nice throaty sound that people comment on cause they like it.
