Hey everybody, I have a YZ250 and I've been running JT Pro premix from crappy tire at 32:1. After seizing my piston, I'll never cheap out on premix again! I was wondering what the best premix and fuel/oil ratio is for a YZ250?

If you used old gas from last season it wasn't the oil that caused the seizure. Make sure that you investigate other issues including air leaks and lean jetting. I doubt that any seizure is caused by the oil quality alone.

You should try the Amsoil Dominator. If you can't find it near you let me know I will work something out with you. DBD

Im personally not a fan of Amsoil. It's performance specs cant match Klotz and it has a reputation for leaving crank bearings dry at startup. Not to mention it kinda stinks, whereas Klotz makes your exhaust smell like you are running race gas.

Motul 800 is the only way I have ever gone. It's a bit pricey but the smell alone is worth it

Klotz Supertechniplate with 20% Benol racing Castor oil. Smells GREAT! I use it just for the smell!

| Here is a fair comparison I will use the Klotz KL-305 50:1 rated oil with the Amsoil Dominator 50:1. There are only a couple real technical numbers to work with on the Klotz & Amsoil sites so thats what I will use to compare them. Klotz KL-305; Viscosity @100°C: 7.4 cSt which stands for centistokes Pour Point: -30F which means at -31F you have honey Flash Point: 215F Pricing 7.85 per pint retail = 15.70 per qt retail Amsoil Dominator; Viscosity @100°C: 7.7 cSt A slightly better Viscosity Pour Point: -51F which means at -52F you have honey Flash Point: 198F Pricing 10.15 per qt retail Summary of the few facts we could compare so far so its apples to apples. Amsoil carries a higher viscosity rating in centistokes which is an absolute viscosity rating according to (ASTM D-445) standards. Incase you are not familure with the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) here is a link to the ASTM D-445 test for Viscosity and the standard that has been set for that test [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Make yourself at home there and read up on just about any test that is performed on petrolium products worldwide and the standards that are accepted worldwide and by most worldwide Petrolium Councils and API (American Petrolium Institue) as the benchmark for any Petrolium products company to meet. Amsoil's pour point is 20 degrees colder than Klotz which means that snocross racers or people who live in very rural cold weather climates can pour Amsoil in colder weather to mix and use in snow plows, snomobiles and other applications where you just don't want your oil getting thick and possibly ruining a motor. Amsoils Flash point is lower (17 degrees lower) meaning that it starts to burn sooner than Klotz giving you a cleaner burn with less deposits and less spooge due to a lower flash point it will also result in less smoke due to a better burn. Pricing: Klotz 7.85 per pint retail which is 15.70 per qt Amsoil 10.15 per qt its smallest container but if it came in pints that would be 5.08 per pint retail. (source Klotz & Amsoil websites) If you wanting to get me any other "Performance Specs" to disect I would be glad to do that. It helps me learn more about what I do and what I sell and what other products out there are made of and which ones are better than Amsoil. I have no problem using good solid facts and showing the reading public here whats good and whats not. If Amsoil has a product that doesn't measure up I will be the first to tell you to stay away from it. However in this case (2 stroke oil) since I ride & race and sell to people that race in the deserts of California with ambeint temps up to 110*F and as low as 10*F for sometimes 3-5 hours straight with no break other than a gas pit and guys who run bikes at 8-11k rpms for those 3-5 hours. I have some real world experience and have done lots of testing with many brands of oils in these conditions and I will not tell you Klotz is a crappy oil because it isn't! But your statement isn't factual and doesn't (by the numbers) hold true. I am not trying to sell you Amsoil I am just about putting out the facts for people to make thier decisions with. If they choose to use Amsoil yes I ask them to buy from me as a paid vendor here who helps support this site staying up and running. Amsoil hasa program where anybody could save up to 25% on the oils and filters they buy further saving them money on their maintanece costs. One last point for you and all others out there, Amsoil guarantees their oils against oil related failure. Not one other company offers a written warranty for their oils that I know of. If your 15k dollar diesel engine fails and its caused by the oil or filter if you use an Amsoil filter, Amsoil will pay for the repairs as long as you followed the warranty as in any other warranty by any mfg.
