Alls I've heard is good things about them, I'd say go for it! And I doubt it does 90 mph, 80 sounds more realistic, probably 75, but where are you gonna get up to speeds like that? Do you ride fireroads all day?

2005 racer-x shootout; should tell ya all you need to know. They picked it as the best 250cc 2-stroke. I wouldn't bet on high speeds, though - unless you decide to change the gearing.

well on top dead center they dynoed a cr250r and it hit a top speed of 93mph. i donnt need to go that fast ! 0-60 is what i want. i ride track and occasionally woods.

they go much faster than your capable of going....that is all that matters. I am not trying to be smart here but if these are your questions then the YZ250 is NOT the bike you need. It is a serious race bike.

The hit on the YZ250 is astronomical, if your racing the 125 class right now...you best be ready for it. How long have you been in the 125 class?

Sorry, I have to disagree with that answer.

I have an 04 YZ250 and except for some minor updates, the 05 motor is virtually identical to the 04 in motor in its power delivery.

Yes, it does have some hit but certainly not like a YZ125. It does have more HP and torque than a YZ125. The power delivery builds revs quickly but wheel spin is not a concern. I don't know how Yamaha did it but, it is the closest thing to 4 stroke power as you can get with only 2 strokes!!! It is the best 2 stroke motor I have ever ridden.

Yup YZernie nailed in on the head. I have had people that ride 4 strokes take my bike out and then comment on how impressed they were with the bottom end grunt and how smooth the power was.

Never rode an 04 but I love my 05 250. It's a great bike. I am really diggin the 2-stroke thing too. I actually sold my 250F and replaced it with an 05 125. Both are very nice bikes.

Not tryin to be an *** but it dont matter what the top speed is cause youll never hit that speed. You should be askin how is the power delivery, any problems with it, pros and cons, and tell us how long you been riding and how much skill you have then we can help you.And ive never heard of a cr250r going that fast stock theres noway.
