Question '99 yz125 clutch basket replacement question

i need some pointers.

it's still going to be a while before i can ride but suzie's been wanting to take my bike out and rip around so i decided to get a replacement clutch basket since mine is notched pretty bad. i found a guy on ebay that was selling one (stock, not aftermarket) and i got it super cheap.

i'm curious about the best way to remove the primary driven gear from my notched basket and swap it over to the basket that i'm getting. i'll have to look closer when i get home, but from what i remember i believe that there are just posts around the edge of the gear that look like they were maybe pressed into the holes in the basket.

any ideas?

thanks!

A drill press is the best way I know, but a hand drill or sidefaced grinder etc will work. Call someone like Stormin Normans or Hinson for some new fasteners. You got a used basket with no gear attached?

thanks andy,

after i got home and had a chance to have a closer look at it, i see what i need to do. you're dead on about a grinder and probably a drill press. what i thought were just posts before are actually really thick ricket posts that have been peened a bit on the ends, enough to where nothing's going to come apart easily.

yeah, this basket i got had a couple of rides on it before it was replaced with an aftermarket one and he kept the gear.

thanks again,

zack
