Default 98 YZ250 jug work on a 95?

I recently trashed the jug on my '95 YZ250 and found a new '98. I looked at the parts and they look identical, but Yamaha shows different part numbers for them

Has anyone done this?

95 p/n - 4MX-11311-00-00

98 p/n - 4XL-11311-10-00

Thanks!
JJ

I think they will interchange....but I think there was something that has to have a minor mod to it....I can't remember exactly what it is...possibly the power valve

I believe the intake (reed cage) pattern is different and the exhaust is a little bit different. I think they changed in 97 and 98 is the same. 96 is like your 95 if Im not mistaken.

98 on YZ250's have a completely different powervalve so your powervalve governor linkage wouldnt hook up, i dont think it would work but you could try it i guess. I would look for a proper cylinder.
