I do not like their website, does not have hardly any of the stuff their catalog does. Could not find the pipe guard on there for you.

my friend started out with an 89 yz250. he did some tricks listed in eric gorr's book for it. he drilled out some sub ports.
his bike would scream. it turned out to be a rocket

it's eric's performance handbook. it is the best $24.95 i have ever spent. it tells you everything you need to know about bikes, and has specific enhancements for every bike
here's his adress

They have Gorr's book at boarders. $24.95. I read about drilling a 1/2" hole somewhere opposite of some port for that mod..increases low end power. But it doesn't go into detail or show any pictures of it. Sounds like a good tip but kinda useless if they show how to do it or give any further detail.

Someone told me to saw off the rubber triangular protrusions from the reed block spacer. Has anyone done this mod and if so, what difference did it make?

Hey, I have an 88 YZ250. The mid range sucks. It might have something to do with half the float missing. The book said poor mid range performance could be from improper fuel level. I need a good carb. Anyoney have one?? (cheap)
My brother-in-law has an 85 CR250 (over bored to about 305) and the mid range is so much smoother. That's when I realized I did have a problem with my bike. The pin that hold the float in place is stuck for some reason. It will not come out. So I can't just change the float.
The carb inlet as about 62mm and the outlet is about 62.5mm outer diameter.

They retail for $412.00. I need one too. Bidding on one now on ebay, up to $55.00. I'm not going any higher. I know another guy who has one for $75. I may just buy a whole other bike for the parts I need cause this nickle and dime stuff is killing my wallet!

You could buy pretty much any 2-stroke carb and fit it up, most are interchangeable and you could gain some power.

Yes I know about the nickle and dime thing. That's what it's been since I got my YZ250. (at about $700 for now) (not bad) Then I had to get an XR80 for one of the kids, and I still don't have that working yet. My other bike is two older bikes made into to one. 1976 YZ125, had a rusted engine, had a 71 CT1 175 trail/enduro that didn't work to well off road, so I pute the 175 on the YZ125, and now I have a YZ175, 71/76 hybread. LOL I've been wanting to go ride it, but there is nowhere to ride around here, unless you know someone. There are a couple private tracks around here, but nothing buplic. The only public place I knew of is closed now. Don't know why.
I've been searching other than the proper carb for my bike. Maybe one day on e-bay, I'll find the perfect one. Then I still need a new chain. Yata Yata Yata, Nickle and Dime, Nickle and Dime. It might not be so bad if I had a place to ride without traveling 2 hours.
Just noticed I pute the wrong number on the measurement on my first post. I guess the proper numbers are 38mm inner diameter on the reed side, and about 54mm inner diameter on the filter side.

Default 89 / 90 engine interchange

Does anyone know if a 1990 YZ250 engine will bolt into a 1989 bike. Thanks.
