In open classes and now the AMA will allow it in 125 mod classes starting next year. I race open classes all the time anyways even on my 125 it makes no difference to me and I don't race anything that is AMA sanctioned.

Aus_22 you should ask steve125 if the power valve washer/shim mod will work on your '00 like it did my '02 sorry I forget the details now.

Not needed in the 00, as it has the proper spring already. Yamaha updated the PV spring in 04 and used the same part and part # from the 00.

Just out of interest, what was the problem or change that happened in 02 with the powervalves?

It got messed up/changed on the 01, probably something to do with the new 38mm carby. But they specd the spring at to light a rate and that caused a flat spot or bog. The PV was opening to soon.

Hey Steve, I'm just wondering how will the FMF Factory Fatty/TI2 work on my stone stock 06 YZ125? Also does the V-Force help a lot or is it a waste of money? I'm running a Factory Fatty/TI2 on my 05 YZ250 and has a lot of bottom, mid, and a little more over rev than stock. Would you reccomend a V-Force or Boyseen Rad vavle for it. I've heard good things about the Boyseen.

The Factory Fatty and shorty work well on the 125. Expect a crisper pull through the gears and about 1 extra HP on top end. The stock reed is a poor design for 05/06. The V-3 works real well. Ive been testing a modifyed Boyeson Rad, with my reed set up, its right there with the V-3 on the dyno( both outperform stock). I need more track time to decide what I'll stick with.

Stock Rad vs V-3?, id go with the V-3.

Well I got the engine crate yesterday! drained the oil last night going to pull it and get it in the mail by wensday so it can sit for the holidays in a box some where At least I got the latest copy of EG's performance handbook something to read to tid me over while I wait and I can focus my attention to my YZ 250. Think i'll be safe if I change the top end every 30 hrs? I was getting that on the ring on my KX 125 and it was just starting to get blow by.

How hard do you ride?

If you are racing or riding it hard, then I wouldn't leave it 30 hours. Just my personal preference

I ride decently about a good fast JR level now I'm not real hard on my bikes but I do know how to ride them well. I packaged up my motor and it's ready to be sent off now for the work to get done can't wait for it to get back I was lookin threw the spark plug hole and the piston burn pattern looked sweet an even from what I could see and it was the optimum looking color tannish.

Looks like my motor has been running just fine except for the spart plug was kinda black which would lead me to believe it was alittle rich still but steve I know ya said don't go any leaner than I all ready have. I won't use this plug as a judgement it was out of the KX 125 but it was tan color before going in, The electrode now it's kinda grey/black/tan. I'll use the new spare in the 144.

No I was going to leave everyone wondering : I'm sure when it comes back it will be sweet. It will most likely spawn much faster my friend turning his '06 CR 125 into a 133 at first I'm sure next season he'll stroke his into a 144 can't do a CR by boring alone like my YZ.

Well hopefully not much longer I'm predicting I should have my motor back by next week avoiding any hang ups. Cept the time I spent this last weekend on the 250 (2 stroke!) was awesome, I'm getting spoiled by power i'm not used to just a qwick brap and i'm over the jump plus I really rail on the whoops on it. I'm afraid I won't want the 125 when I get it back! nah! I should call later this week to check on the status.

Okay called and the update is hopefully only a few more days of work there was a minor problem the power valve connecting rod broke. Alittle suprizing but they are kinda weak part of the power valve anyways, maybe it was a weak stock part that may have broke anyways at least it's getting replaced with a new part at no extra cost. I should have it shipped back to me next week. Yes I do even have a good spot to take it out to even if this rain doesn't let up that will let me really test it out.

Called today and asked about the motor and it's shipping out today! so I should have it mid next week. Man it feels like i've been saying just another week for awhile now. When I shipped my motor last time it took about 4 days total.
