2003 yz250 gearing question Got the fork seal fixed. Now, I'm onto gearing. I ride mainly in the woods in southwestern PA. Tight trails with rocks and roots and mud, mostly. Anyway, I have to lower my final drive and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either 14/52-53-54 or a 13/50 combination. 14/50 is stock and I don't want to go as far as 13/50, but I don't want to put a 52 or 53 on back and not notice any difference. Does anybody know what gearing the Yamaha factory guys run on the GNCC Circuit??? Thanks, in advace, for your opinions. |

![]() I read an article on the WORCS and Hare and Hound riders that ride 2003 YZ 250's and they actually go DOWN on the rear sprocket to a 49 tooth, BUT they also go to a smaller 18" rear wheel and tire - of course, thier motors are tweaked |

![]() Youll feel the 53 but probably not much on the 52. Start with the 53 and see where your at then go from there.. |
