Default 2002 yz 125 Head Shake

Anyone know how to reduce head shake without buying a steering damper. I was thinking of tightening the steering yoke and see if that made a difference? Any help would be appreciated.

First thing is to make sure you have your suspension set up properly. Do you have your sag set at 100-110mm? 100 seems to work best on these bikes. If your sag is set properly, try sliding your forks down in the triple clamps about 4-8mm.

Try this first. I am betting it's your sag that is causing the problem.

Thanks Satch. I set my sag at 105mm and the fork tubes have about 2mm above my RG3 triple clamps. Do you think I should try lowering the tubes even further?

once you get a good balanced set up, then i would play with the height...depending on the track...

I also had head shake on my 2002 YZ134. Rick7331 and I cured it by lubing the steering stem bearings and then tightening everything down to torque spec.

If your rear spring were to stiff for you and your fork springs to soft the headshake would be persistant even with correct, sag and fork set up.

I'll lube and torque the steering tube as well as change the fork oil next and see if that changes anything.
