Default 1995 YZ250 Clutch problem

Hi all,

I have a 1995 YZ250, and I keep experiencing an issue with my clutch. After a bit of time (maybe 45 minutes in this case), the clutch lever pulls to the bar, without any real actuation of the clutch. Closer inspection shows that the lever which enters the case to actuate the pushrod is much farther forward than it should be. I pull the clutch pressure plate off, pull the pushrod out, and re-seat the actuating lever, and everything is fine again. Put it all back together, ride for a while, and the same thing happens again. Closer inspection of the actuating lever shows some minor nicks in the dimple section that the pushrod rides in, but it doesn't appear to be enough to cause the rod to ride out of the dimple.

Any thoughts?

The lever (Push lever axle) most likely will be the cause of the problem.
I think your already on to this!
good luck!

Thanks for the response, guess I'll cough up the $45 for a new one to take one less variable out of the equation. I'll pick up a new pushrod while I'm at it for that extra peace of mind.

Thanks
Jim

Yep I would say that the lever is probably the culprate (SP?). I would also carefully inspect the ends of the pushrod itself for wear, if it is dimpled as well, replace it while you are in there.

Good luck!!

The lever end of the pushrod is indeed dimpled, I assumed that it came this way from the factory since I don't have a new one handy to compare it to. Thanks for both of your input, and hopefully this fixes it!
