Default And 1 more ??

I do primarily trail riding but have just recently gotten pulled closer to the track. Would a flywheel weight help any as a dual purpose or would it be better left alone?

I have ridden most of my life, but just starting getting kinda serious about a year and a half ago, I have the whole if it ain't broke dont fix it attitude going on, so I know about the maintanance, just not the upgrades.

The bike is an 01YZ250, stock gearing and jetting. Everything works fine now, just looking to get a little better, especially on the track.

Hey,
Welcome aboard. And your mentality should serve you well. I suscribe to the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought as well. The flywheel weight on a YZ-250 would do you less service on the track than on the trails etc. Assuming the bike's been getting along fine thus far: if you spend more of your riding time on the track, you will still have little need for a weighted flywheel.
Stop by and post often,
Jim

Yep Jim nailed it. Hardly anyone in MX installs flywheel weights, they are of better service to you in the woods then on the track. The exception to that is the '03 and '04 yz450f's alot of guys do install weights on those bikes to tame them a bit.

Welcome to atm bro!
