I was wondering if any other 05 YZ250 owners here have noticed the forks on their bike are very harsh over braking bumps/ small chop? The forks on my bike are beating my wrists and hands badly and it seems like the initial movement of the forks is very sticky. I have greased under the dust seals and made sure the forks were aligned in the tripple clamps and axle properly and played with various clicker settings but none of it has helped. I have read in alot of MX forums on the net that the design of the new forks is a bad one because they are copys of the showa design but in order to get around the patent on the showa's ,they changed a few internals and as a result they basically screwed them up. all input is appreciated

That is the first time I have heard a concern about the 05 forks. Have you bled the air from them??

Thanks for the reply yzernie. Yes Ive bled the air from the forks numerous times by putting the bike on a stand with the forks extended and removing the bleed screws on the top of the fork. The forks seem to be sitting low in their stroke (not all the way extended) when the bike is just sitting on its stand. The initial sag in the forks is around 2 inches (i havent measured it so thats approximate) and compared to the rear shock, the forks are much more "stuck" when it comes to the initial movement of the suspension. The rear of the bike is nice and cushy and you can start to compress the rear with minimal force and 2 fingers and when you compress the rear a bit it will spring back up. The front is hard to start compressing even with the pressure of your whole hand and a good shove is required to get it to move and when its compressed a bit it doesnt spring back up like the rear does unless you compress it hard. I dont know whats going on with the forks....maybe i got a factory defect or something?

I have't ridden the bike, but have read decent reviews on the fork and shock. KY had the dual chamber design prior to Showa. If after working with the settings you are still not happy, I would send them to Factory Connections. I hear nothing but great reports on their suspension work.

I answered ya on pingertalk, but I just did Satches forks (kind of thought the same thing, harsh on braking bumps). We will just have to see in about a week if it did the job. I am sure he will have much much less harshness with what I did. Last edited by ProAMA725; 05-23-2005 at 11:28 AM.
