Just take it easy on it for the first 3 or 4 thermal cycles. Don't rev it above about 1/2 throttle at first, then not above 3/4 throttle for another thermal cycle. I fire 'em up for a few seconds, shut it down and look everythnig over - coolant level, tranny fluid, check for leaks. Then I fire it right back up and run it at low speed for maybe five minutes, then shut it down and let it cool completely. Repeat maybe 2 more times. One thing you don't want to do is to run it hard at first. You also do not want to hold it at a constant RPM nor a high RPM. 3-4 thermal cycles and you are good. Some guys don't do a thing for break-in but I don't advise that. Scott

Scooter, you do realize this is a 2 stroke engine??? The rings are located by pins in the ring grooves.

After running and stopping cold about 3 times and increasing rpms, i changed the gear oil and to my surprise it was milky pink i really was concerned until i figured i must have left water in the cylinder somehow, so i flushed the gearbox a couple times and then ran it for an hour and a half at no more than 3/4 throttle checked oil again and it was clean
